DIY Mini Studio Makeover! Phase 1!

We put a little elbow grease into our garage art studio this summer and here's the result! It's not perfect but it's 100% cosier, cleaner, eclectic and fun. We even painted in the awkward corners.

Notes:
-This is a garage floor with some pretty permanent stains short of power washing
-I use the desk spaces for watercolour, gouache, acrylic and editing, and I tend to use the couch space for digital drawing and watching tv/movies.
-Let me know below if you want to learn more about the partition. I couldn't remove the stamp stains with sanding, unfortunately. So short of painting it, which I might, I'm out of luck with those and I tend to just put pictures on top.
-I forgot my iPad on the couch in the final after shots. You're welcome :0)
Nothing in this video is sponsored. Kitchenette is from ikea Swing is from Etsy Paper curtain is Tord Boontje Rug is from Wayfair Map hanging is from Urban Outfitters but you might be able to find it in other places.

Cheeky afternoon in the meadow - Nude

A fun day out in a blooming meadow, being free. The idea for this came to me one day when I sitting in my backyard and the dandelions suddenly bloomed and I was surrounded in yellow. (No I wasn’t nude lol) This is designed to be a surface pattern, I was thinking on a picnic blanket or something else fun.

Why, why draw nudes?

I found myself being envious of the easy, free spirit of some of the nude pattern designs I saw out there, I wanted to be that open and have that much freedom. I was in a place where I found myself only able to draw one type of body, as I wrestle with my own body. So doing this pattern was an exercise in self-acceptance.

And saying that you’re just as valuable and feminine no matter your shape, the colour or state of your skin, your sagginess, your c-section or breast cancer scars, your baby belly, your flat or lush or uneven boobs, your hairy legs,  missing limbs or muscularity. (This is _not_ an exhaustive list!) Let’s find joy in all our  bodies.

Feed the land, not the landfill

This spring I got the opportunity to work on a kitchen scraps guide for the regional government, and now I can finally share! This guy is meant to be added to and distributed by local collectors, but is super handy for anyone too. (Contents might vary by area though!)

I loved getting to draw unique icons for each item, some were required to be super specific. See pics below.

Into the Forest - Cathedral Grove Poster

I’m so happy to finally share with you the finished Cathedral Grove poster! Cathedral grove was the first on my bucket list of places to visit when I moved to Vancouver Island. It didn’t disappoint! It’s trees are massive but the forest is also sometimes dark and shady and moist.

I wanted to capture the scale of the trees and the intricate beauty of the ecology in Cathedral Grove. I tried to incorporate as many native plants as I could such as salal, local orchids, mushrooms, ferns, and native birds.

This print is available as an iPad wallpaper and an iPhone wallpaper too. You can get a copy of the iPhone wallpaper for free when you sign up for my newsletter.
